I am a motion-based visual artist exploring how line, rhythm, and movement can translate emotional and psychological states into visual form.
ABOUT ME
TORI CHEN
In my work, line functions as a living structure — stretching, fragmenting, and pulsing to reflect internal tension and shifting perception.
Alongside this visual language, I am deeply interested in how different animation systems interact. I actively experiment with digital motion tools such as After Effects and Procreate Dreams, combining them with frame-by-frame drawing and my own illustration practice. Rather than treating these techniques as separate workflows, I use their friction and overlap to generate new visual behaviors and unexpected textures.
This hybrid approach allows my work to exist between control and spontaneity, digital precision and hand-drawn imperfection. Each project becomes a site of experimentation — a way to study how technical processes, gesture, and rhythm can collide to produce evolving visual languages.
My practice is driven by continuous exploration. While I am committed to developing my current visual vocabulary, I remain open to transformation, treating every new tool, method, or influence as an opportunity to expand how motion and drawing can communicate feeling, energy, and perception.
